ABOUT
DENNI DANIELS studied fine art at Baylor University and now lives and loves in Houston where she began. Denni is a contemporary abstract artist whose work is collected locally as well as out of state. She had never painted people prior to creating WOMAN LOVED, a collection of 33 portraits she completed between March and August of 2022.

When she’s not painting, Denni works with women in another form of art — she designs their hair, enhances their beauty, hears their stories, grieves their pain, and celebrates their joys. She considers it an incredible privilege. And her profession prepared her heart to paint this collection.

The Woman Loved collection was created to illustrate the beautiful diversity of women, and to emphasize the common denominator that we are all loved by God; to tell our varied and sometimes tragic stories of female experience and remind women everywhere of our untold worth.
The women are depicted unclothed. Their bare skin reveals their vulnerability; their closed eyes show a still-veiled awareness of their intrinsic and unconditional value to the Creator and the Lover of their souls. The heart that punctuates each painting signifies that no matter what, each woman is deeply loved. The last Woman is the first woman, Eve, the Mother of all women. Like every woman to follow her, she was deceived. Her choices changed the course of history, as do ours for our personal stories. Yet despite her grave error, Eve was loved; her eyes are open, because, from her side of eternity, she knows.
I found myself in these 33 Women, understanding more of my own identity as I painted them. The nurse titled “Burdened” reminded me of my call to be a “need-meeter,” to recognize and respond to the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial needs of the hurting world around me. It was easy to paint the overfed, cocooned woman, because I knew her well, I simply painted some of the physical characteristics that in the past I had seen in the mirror. It felt familiar to paint “Starved” because I once shared the mind of the anorexic woman and have experienced some of the same consequences of her choices. I resonate with the painting of the bride because I have come to internalize the reality that I am wanted, pursued, romanced by, and wed to The Greatest Lover of all time. My prayer is that you might embrace Him, too.
Throughout my life I have been “Hidden,” ““Imprisoned,” “Starved,” “Angry,” “Dysmorphic,” “Distracted,” “Dissatisfied” ...they are me. And I am still Loved. I haven’t known “Beaten,” “Sold,” “Used,” “Objectified,” “Oppressed,” “Homeless,” or “Devastated”...If you have, know that my heart breaks for your story and wants to tell it also. Like me, despite and because of it all, you are loved. That’s why I painted these women: to remind myself that we are all “Valued,” and “Cherished,” and that all our stories can be “Redeemed.” That each of us is a Woman Loved.
This collection is my offering to you, imperfect, like my life. From the beginning, this project felt beyond me, and I knew it did not originate with me; I was just the human hands and heart God chose to use. Any beauty that results is His.
